We now have another reason to avoid fats and fatty food. It's not our body, but our mind is also affected by the bad fats in the food. A study, published in the International Journal of Obesity, noted that high fat foods are indeed comforting, but that their feel good effect has an addictive quality, leading to a comedown that creates depression.
Foods high in saturated fat such as hamburgers, cheese, ice cream and butter, have been shown to cause inflammation throughout the body - including the brain, and this inflammation could cause changes that lead to negative moods. Fatty acids in these foods change proteins in brains that lead to emotional changes. This in turn affects our emotional stability and we suffer bouts of anxiety and depression.
